If I were you I would say, speak Lord, speak to me! Maybe God is trying to tell you something.

The past two weeks have been very challenging for me; challenging to the point that I know I need to be still. I’ve lost a lot during these past few weeks, been totally and completely wiped out and confused about some decisions I need to make. God is trying to tell me something and I know it!

Sometimes I find that I am so busy moving here and there…just too busy. Is busy good? Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

God is not the author of confusion. God is a God of order and sometimes He is prompting us to get our houses in order. But what does that really men?

I. Getting our spiritual houses in order means:

  1. Placing and keeping God first in all that we say and do.
  2. Regularly assembling ourselves with believers.
  3. Giving as the word leads us to–spiritually, physically, relation wise, and financially
  4. Fasting, praying, worshipping
  5. Developing and keeping a relationship with our Creator
  6. Reading the word daily.
  7. Reading other inspirational books.
  8. Watching and viewing messages of love, hope, faith, etc. via TV, YouTube, Periscope or Facebook Live
  9. Get your praise on! God inhabits the praises of His people.
  10. Develop a habit of speaking in an unknown tongue. This confuses the enemy.

II. Getting our natural houses in order means:

As givers, sometimes we can really get this part out of order. We give and give to others without realizing our natural house is a reflection of God’s love in human form.

  1. Spending quality time with the family members that God has blessed us with.
  2. Maintaining our houses in a manner pleasing to the Lord. Translation: Keeping it clean and taking care of what we’ve been blessed with (material things)
  3. Maintain a pleasant and inviting atmosphere for those who enter in.
  4. Always remember, God first and our immediate families second, i.e., spouse and children and then others.

III. Getting our physical (body) houses in order means:

Our bodies are the temple of the Lord. To preserve and take care of the temples we must–

  1. Healthy eating/Proper diet
  2. Exercise at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes each time
  3. Setting and keeping regular doctor’s, dental, and eye exams
  4. Getting proper rest.
  5. Maintaining our hail, nails and brows
  6. Always dressed in a manner pleasing to God (and for those that don’t know what an iron and ironing board looks like, I suggest you reintroduce yourself to them. They work miracles-LOL)
  7. Proper hygiene is extremely important! Don’t neglect it! 🙂
  8. Learn to say no to unhealthy things. Temptations will come.

IV. Getting our financial houses in order means:

  1. On a regular basis (at least once a week) look at your financial obligations.
  2. Establish a REAL budget. I wrote about this in a prior message.
  3. Start to regularly save. Invest into your account each pay day
  4. Pay off debts that have been in arrears. This can be done! Have a plan and follow it!
  5. Put those ATM and credit cards away in a safe place. Don’t use them unless the money is in the account or you’re able to pay off the debt when the card comes in. Overdraft protection still costs you.
  6. Learn the power of “no”–No to yourself and no to others. Think about the repercussions of purchasing that item today or saying yes to something that you can wait to get or do
  7. Avoid those payday loan places…Run Forest run!
  8. Schedule appointments with your bankers to see what financial tips they can and do offer.
  9. Attend financial literacy classes.
  10. Put God first by investing in His kingdom. Give your tithes, offerings, help a brother or sister in need, do it as He leads you.

V. Getting our businesses in order

Many of us have started businesses and for some reason or another they have not taken off as we have desired them to. To ensure we have successful businesses, and to get them in order, we must–

  1. Ensure that we have ALL of our papers properly filed via the various channels
  2. Ensure that we have the necessary insurance protections in case a situation occurs
  3. Maintain your bookkeeping or have someone do it for you on a daily or weekly basis–Remember your records are open for inspection
  4. Have on hand a legal advisor, a financial advisor, an independent accountant, an advisory board, and a supportive staff
  5. Learn and continue to learn any and everything related to your business
  6. File and pay your taxes timely. There are several that must be paid, not just IRS.
  7. Network! Your net worth is largely determined by your network.
  8. Associate, collaborate and do business with reputable people; people of character and integrity. First become that person yourself.

VI. Getting our mental houses in order:

  1. Study and read something on a regular basis that expands your vocabulary, your way of thinking and provides intellectual stimulation
  2. Network as much as possible with others that provide positive motivation, inspiration, information and encouragement
  3. Learn to be objective. When looking at a situation put yourself in both or all parties involved position.
  4. Join a book club. It’s amazing the discussions that takes place as each person reads the same book and walks away with totally different ideas or thoughts about the book.
  5. Join Toastmaster’s or similar groups if you’re interested in improving your speaking skills, vocabulary, etc.

If our houses are not in order, we run the risk of losing and that’s a risk we don’t want to take. If you’re like me you’ve done that enough. Lack and poverty is not our destiny. The word says to obey is better than sacrifice. If you are like me, you are tired of losing and ready to win.

We are Destined to Win. We should always Expect to Win and Expect Greater. In order to do so, we must take and invest the time in getting our houses in order. Now that’s an investment well worth the risk!

Never compromise your beliefs based on what’s popular or the belief’s of others. Be true to who you are…your core…the real you. If you find yourself compromising in your home, on your job, in your finances, with your health or in any area of your life, get it right.

Be the best version of you that you can be.

To those that don’t understand what I’m about to do: don’t worry because God will soon show you. To give you a sneak preview–I am getting my house in order!

By a show of hands, who’s ready to get their houses in order and see the manifestations of God’s glory on a regular, ongoing basis? Well, it’s not going to be easy but it is necessary. You’re really embarking upon the journey of dying to self and living life as God intended. Set your intentions to WIN!

The time to win is now! To be fit for the journey and the fights ahead, it is imperative that we get our houses in order.

Listen…do you hear Him speaking? God is trying to tell you something! Let’s repent and then aggressively work towards order. There is a call to repentance!

A Call to Repentance

In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, “The Lord has been very angry with your fathers. Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Return to Me,” says the Lord of hosts, “and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts. “Do not be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets preached, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Turn now from your evil ways and your evil deeds.”’ But they did not hear nor heed Me,” says the Lord.

“Your fathers, where are they?
And the prophets, do they live forever?
Yet surely My words and My statutes,
Which I commanded My servants the prophets,
Did they not overtake your fathers?

“So they returned and said:

‘Just as the Lord of hosts determined to do to us,
According to our ways and according to our deeds,
So He has dealt with us.’”’”

The Lord Will Comfort Zion

12 Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said, “O Lord of hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry these seventy years?”

13 And the Lord answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words. 14 So the angel who spoke with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:

“I am zealous for Jerusalem
And for Zion with great zeal.
15 I am exceedingly angry with the nations at ease;
For I was a little angry,
And they helped—but with evil intent.

16 ‘Therefore thus says the Lord:

“I am returning to Jerusalem with mercy;
My house shall be built in it,” says the Lord of hosts,
“And a surveyor’s line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’

17 “Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts:

“My cities shall again spread out through prosperity;
The Lord will again comfort Zion,
And will again choose Jerusalem.”’”
