It’s restoration time! Yes, it is time to aggressively work towards becoming the you that God intended you to be.

Jeremiah 33 tells of the promise of restoration–

Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth. And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first.

This particular chapter deals with restoring a nation. My challenge to each of us is to allow God to restore you and as He does, know that it is the beginning of a restored nation.

Sounds elementary, but fear is one of the things that holds many of us back.  Repeat it over and over again.

DAY 2 CHALLENGECourage and Wisdom–Understand that there are some things in life that you absolutely cannot change. Recognize and know that this is a part of life. Today’s challenge is to recite The Serenity Prayer at least 3 times when faced with issues that are beyond your control. Rest assured, you will have ample opportunity to do so

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change;

Courage to change the things I can;

And wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did, this sinful world

As it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make all things right;

If I surrender to His will;

So that I may be reasonably happy in this life

And supremely happy with Him

Forever and ever in the next.

Think of just ONE thing that you have put off doing that you know once it’s completed you can exhale AND THEN just do it! Feel the sense of accomplishment you will have upon its completion. Share with us what you did, how long you had procrastinated about doing it and if you were able to breathe that sigh of relief once it was finished. We want to hear from you.

Read something today that takes you out of your comfort area, something you wouldn’t typically take the time to read. It can be educational, motivational, inspirational, romance, fiction or non-fiction, self-help or anything that takes you away your norm.

Spend at least 30 minutes today reading. Let’s go! (Are you still with me?)

Yes I said INVEST some time! Set aside a few hours from your daily activities to invest in spending some quality time with your loved ones. Investments yield a return! Let’s go! We’re on our way to becoming a better version of ourselves and a new life.

DAY 6 CHALLENGE: Move Your Body! Get up and get moving. 30 minutes of physical exercise is all that’s required. Walk, run, play, enjoy!

DAY 7 CHALLENGE– Attend the CHURCH of your choice. Be it in person, live streaming, TV–get your word in today. Get some good food for your soul to help carry you through the day and/or week until the next refueling takes place.

Day 8 CHALLENGE–MEDITATE! Take some time to meditate. Get quiet and say over and over again “Something good is going to happen to me today. Something good is going to happen through me today.” Meditate on a scripture that encourages you. SOMETHING GOOD IS HAPPENING TO AND THROUGH YOU!

DAY 9 CHALLENGE–SET SOME GOALS! I’m not hearing anything from anyone!!! Are you with me? Okay, let’s go. Today is a great day to set goals and develop life plans. Set short-term and long-term goals. Where do you see yourself 3 years from now? 5 years from now? 7 years from now? Write the vision out. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate but as Stephen Covey writes…begin with the end in mind. See yourself accomplishing this. One, two, three…let’s go!!!

DAY 10 CHALLENGE–BUDGET! Look at us! We are moving forward. Today’s challenge is to put in place and implement that often dreaded “B” word. Yep, it’s time to set a BUDGET and please be realistic when doing so. This is work people but well worth it! Get a bright red (or any color) budget book. Write out everything you owe to include the due dates. Start with your regular household expenses, and then move to others you have such as gasoline, cleaners, entertainment, oil changes, tire replacements, trainings, and miscellaneous. Don’t forget to include your giving. That should be at the very top of your list. Look at your NET monthly income you bring home each payday.  Write those pay days down and working with your BUDGET determine what you can pay and when you will pay.

And know that you are going to have to say no to many things but the end will be amazing!

And, if you have messed up with the finances, don’t beat yourself up…we are all beginning again. Time to right wrongs that have been in arrears!

DAY 11 CHALLENGE–KNOW YOUR CREDIT SCORES! Order your free credit report by going to creditkarma.com or freecreditreport.com. Check out https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/artic…/0155-free-credit-reports. Know where you stand financially. You can get a FREE annual credit report and Credit Karma affords you the opportunity to review your credit reports on a regular basis.

I’ve heard that  https://www.creditchecktotal.com/ is an even better resource than Credit Karma and is more accurate. There is a minimal cost for this one.

DAY 12 CHALLENGE: Reach out today by calling or visiting someone you’ve not heard from in a while. Surprise them! Let them know you are thinking about them. Kindness goes a long way.

DAY 13 CHALLENGE: Relax! If you’ve been doing the challenges along with me you owe yourself a day of relaxation. Enjoy your holiday weekend. Do something fun! Let your hair down and embrace the kid in you. That’s it!

DAY 14 CHALLENGE: It’s Sunday!!! All day long! Attend the church of your choice–in-person, live streaming, TV–Give Him what He so rightfully deserves…your time.

DAY 15 CHALLENGE: Celebrate your personal independence day with family and friends. Think of a few things, or perhaps one, that you have been delivered from or are grateful for and CELEBRATE!

If you’ve been doing these challenges, you have a reason to celebrate!

DAY 16 CHALLENGE: Before I give the challenge, please allow me to thank those that are actually doing the challenges daily. A challenge often allows us to reflect, get out of our comfort zones, and take some corrective action. So, I say thank you and we are past the half way point! Yay!

FORGIVENESS is the challenge for today. Think of someone you have harbored ill-feelings as they did, or you perceived they did, you wrong in some kind of way. Now make a conscious decision to forgive that person. That person could very well be YOU! It could be someone else. You’ve heard it before, unforgiveness is like poison, when taken, spreads throughout your body. It creates all kinds of negatives like stress, emotional pains, physical symptoms,  lack of energy…the list goes on and on.

DAY 17 CHALLENGE: Go somewhere new. Yep, go somewhere you’ve never been before. This can be a park or riding through a new neighborhood, to a beach, a new restaurant…just go somewhere different. Get outside your regular neighborhood (unless of course there are places in your hood you haven’t seen)

There’s so much more to see even in your own city you’ve lived in for years. Find those spots.

DAY 18 CHALLENGE: Be CHEERFUL ALL day long. When negative thoughts enter your mind immediately replace it/them with positive ones. Do this as often as you need to throughout the day.

DAY 19 CHALLENGE: Hydrate! Drink at least 8 glasses of water today. The body needs water!

DAY 20 CHALLENGE–GET MOVING! Let’s move that body again. 30 minutes of brisk walking, jogging, workouts at the gym or at home. Just move that body for 30 minutes.

DAY 21 CHALLENGE–TIME FOR CHURCH! It’s Sunday again! Yes! Now let’s actually go into the sanctuary for praise and worship and the assembling of ourselves together with other believers. This time– no live-stream or TV, but rather in-person. Let’s go!!!

DAY 22 CHALLENGE: Let’s incorporate 2 items together…READ and HYDRATE. Read something uplifting and encouraging. Get full of hope so that you can pass it on.

Drink 8-glasses of water. You can do this! 4 bottles of 16.9 ounces helps you exceed this goal.

DAY 23 CHALLENGE–BE GRATEFUL! Have an attitude of gratitude. Focus today on all you are thankful for. Take the time to list some of the things you are grateful for and sometimes take for granted.

What can your list look like? Good health, great family and friends, a job, a roof over your head, a vehicle to drive, the gift of being alive, your children, you get the gist of it. Being grateful or expressing gratitude does not mean just for material or tangible things. Go deeper.

DAY 24 CHALLENGE–ME TIME! Okay so let’s plan some time for you. Plan a mini getaway to spend time pampering you. You deserve it! Don’t just plan it though, follow through and actually go. We often put ourselves on the back burner. Let’s do a little something for us…a spa day, a day of pampering, golfing,  a trip to somewhere you’ve wanted to go but put off. Let’s do it!

DAY 25 CHALLENGE–BOUNDARIES ARE NECESSARY! Establish some boundaries. We know that if we don’t plan our time, talents, money, and other resources, people will do it for us. Set some boundaries. Say no for a change. Don’t say “yes” when you know you’re already booked or already have plans. This can be difficult but is absolutely necessary if you want to “do you”. Don’t allow others to make their crisis situation your crisis. You are working on becoming whole and saying no is absolutely necessary.

DAY 26 CHALLENGE-EMBRACE CHANGE! Change is inevitable. Sometimes we RESIST changing or changes, but today I ask that you EMBRACE change and recognize that we are stagnant if we never change. Everything changes–relationships, jobs, changes in locations or moves, et cetera. Stretch yourself. Grow. Say to yourself: Today I accept the fact that as I grow and change, others are doing the same. I welcome and embrace POSITIVE changes in my life. You ARE changing for the better!

DAY 27 CHALLENGE–LET’S GET SOME BALANCE! The word for the day is BALANCE. Today decide that you are going to have BALANCE in your life and think about ways you can begin to accomplish this. Too much of anything is not good for us. There is a time for everything–a time to work and time to play, a time to learn, a time to teach, a time to get, a time to give, a time to exercise, a time to worship, and a time to pray. I know many are workaholics and lives are totally out of balance. (Hands raised) Let’s begin the journey of having balance so that our lives are in proper alignment and we can live our best lives now.

Wow, only 3 more days! I hope and pray some are still going on this journey of jumpstarting and becoming a better YOU!

DAY 28 CHALLENGE–BREAKING ADDICTIONS! Suffering from any habits or addictions that are holding you back? It’s time to get focused on breaking old habits and beginning healthier ones. As an example, if you are addicted to chocolates, diet sodas (or any sodas for that matter), unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, procrastination, nicotine, alcohol, drugs, or anything that you know is preventing you from being the best that you can be, it’s time to address and implement a plan of action to replace the old with new, more fulfilling, healthier actions to help you be fit for the fight.

And it’s Sunday again! Attend the church of your choice today.

2 more days to go!

DAY 29 CHALLENGE: The words for today are CONFIDENCE and COURAGE. Go about today CONFIDENTLY walking in the knowledge that any of the challenges given, you can and will do. Be COURAGEOUS enough to make necessary changes in your life to become a better you. Be CONFIDENT that the Almighty that has begun a good work in you will give you the wisdom, knowledge and COURAGE to complete them. Now walk boldly in CONFIDENCE and COURAGE.

DAY 30 CHALLENGE: CELEBRATE! Yes celebrate the fact that you took the necessary steps to begin the process of becoming a better YOU! Understand these tidbits are just that and they work if we work them. I’ve tried to address spiritual, physical, financial, and relational issues. Now the real challenge is to continue taking the necessary steps on a daily basis to become the you that you aspire to be. I am rooting for you! You can do it!

Isaiah 53:6-8English Standard Version (ESV)

All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

Let’s get back to doing it His way and allow restoration to take place in our lives, our nation, one person at a time. God knows we need it!
